With only two weeks left to opening night on the 11th of November 2015, bookings have finally opened at Computicket for the Cape Town Military Tattoo 2015. Click on the picture to access the link.

We have five full and amazing shows lined up: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening, and two shows on Saturday – the first at 15h30 in the afternoon, the second in the evening at 19h45. Both of Saturday’s shows are the full shows.

NB! Each night’s performance starts punctually at 19h45, so spectators need to be in their seats before then.

This is the 10th Anniversary of this wonderful military musical spectacle, and I can tell you honestly that we’re in for an amaaaaaazing show. The production team and the executive committee have been working soooo hard behind the scenes… and all the participating acts and performers have been putting in loooooong hours rehearsing – I just know it’s going to be another unforgettable show.

As in each of the preceding tattoos, the line-up is diverse and wide-ranging, so there is something for everyone. The Tattoo’s official website now has the entire line-up, so check it out:

We have four South African military bands from all four arms of service (Army, Air Force, Navy and Military Health Service) and five pipe bands (Cape Town Highlanders, Cape Field Artillery, Cape Garrison Artillery, Knysna & Districts, and Algoa Caledonian).

We also have three international acts, which will knock your socks off:

Chloë

Chloë Agnew

Chloë Agnew, gorgeous Irish singer from ‘Celtic Woman’ – perhaps you will have heard her angelic voice singing “Ave Maria” (YouTube link) – does that not give you goosebumps?! Joey from ‘War Horse’ will be part of the action on the arena, in a moving tribute to the men and women who served in World War I, which is the theme of the Tattoo this year. Have a look at this Ted talk, where the creators of this life-size introduced this magical life-size puppet horse (YouTube link). The Pakistan Army Band in their exotic uniforms are performing here for the very first time – they have made a powerful impression at all the many international tattoos and events at which they have performed, so we are in for a treat. Here is a clip of them performing at the International Military Music Festival in Moscow, Russia in September 2015 (YouTube link).

The Nuwe Graskoue Trappers

The Nuwe Graskoue Trappers

On the local front, we also have something unusual in the form of the Nuwe Graskoue Trappers, a traditional Riel Dancing troupe from Wupperthal! If you’ve never heard of Riel dancing before, here is a delightful introduction to this troupe (YouTube link). These energetic youngsters recently won the world championships in the United States. The Chris Hani School Choir and Dancers will also be performing at the Tattoo this year; here is a link to a clip of them singing (YouTube link) – sheer goosebumps, I tell ya. And a string quartet of four talented young musicians from the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will be gracing us onstage too (Facebook page).

And, as it’s a military tattoo after all, we will also have some dramatic action on the arena, involving the fearless soldiers from the sky – the paratroopers of 3 Parachute Battalion ‘C’ Company, as well as the Precision Drill Squad of the South African Army Infantry School – and a gun run against the clock by a team from the TS Woltemade Sea Cadets.

Now if this hasn’t persuaded you to buy those tickets, I don’t know what will! 🙂

I'd love to hear your views
