On Mother’s Day – I know, it’s several weeks ago! – we decided to take my Mom for a little drive out to the delightful Helderberg Nature Reserve outside Somerset West, to have lunch at the Oak Café, the restaurant/coffee shop inside the reserve. We hadn’t been there in over two years, since exploring the Blue Trail and the Yellow Trail at the start of 2010, and thought a follow-up visit was way overdue.
We went for a relaxing walk along the boardwalk that surrounds the vlei – not many birds could be seen, but they could definitely be heard! It was a beautiful, sunny day, with just a slight wintery nip in the air. It was wonderful to get out of the bustling city for a bit, and inhale some clean, fresh air – and the delicious lunch among good company made our visit even more special.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! Love you LOTS!
Lovely photos, lovely mother and I must learn to do that dissolving photo slideshow thing.
Thank you kindly, Richard. 🙂
By the way, the slideshow thingie is really easy; you upload a series of photos to your blog, add captions, if you like, sort them in the desired sequence, and then insert the “[slideshow]” tag. (More info here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/). I hope that helps.
What a lovely (belated) Mother’s Day tribute, Reggie. I had to enlarge the photo so I could admire you two beautiful women.
😀 Thanks, Kathy!
Wonderful photos, Reggie, and a super Mom.
Thanks, Pauline! 😀
A lovely place to go with your mother. And I can see that you both had a fantastic day 🙂
Yeah, we did, Truels. It is a beautiful nature reserve, and so close to Cape Town too.
