My favourite tango dancers

If you want to see my two favourite Argentinian tango dancers in action, have a look here and here.

The first link will take you to the webpage of the El Cacha Tango Company.

In 2004, El Cacha created a Tango show called El Beso, which was staged at the Little Theatre during December, with music by the Cape Town Tango Ensemble and Juan Simon.

The highlight of the show was Latino and Cherona’s Libertango: their dancing – intimate and dramatic, cheekily playful and seductive all at the same time – absolutely blew me away. Their routine is technically challenging, but they made it all seem so effortless, each movement flowing gracefully and smoothly into the next, that it left us hungry to learn how to dance just like them!

I’m so pleased to see that they have now uploaded a video clip of their thrilling Libertango – enjoy!

In 2006, they created another Tango show, featuring the writing of Borges, and titled Tango Portraits. So have a look at Cherona dancing with Mdu in the second video clip. Ab-so-lute-ly beau-ti-ful. Sigh.

The second link will take you to a video clip of a piece El Cacha Tango created for the Baxter Dance Festival in 2006. The dancers are Latino and Cherona, Charli and Mdu.

Wow, those performances brought back such happy memories.

Let me know what you think. 😀

I'd love to hear your views
