Movie review: “Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight”

Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight was the worst animated movie I have seen in a long time.

The plot was utterly confusing, jumping all over the place and very predictable. The characters were badly developed – stereotypical, badly acted, with their status as either good guys or bad guys rather ambiguous. The animation was the pits. I don’t know what studio they paid to do it, but either they rushed through the job without doing the finishing touches, or they were incompetent and unfamiliar with the software. Some of the characters were in CGI, others were in 2D animation. A mess.

It was like watching a dreadful, very badly animated version of Lord of the Rings, or any other quest movie, with unwilling accomplices having to cooperate in order to complete a quest. It’s supposed to be the first in a series, but this one has completely put me off the rest.

The comments on the YouTube trailer make it really clear that fans of the book are very unhappy with the movie version.
