I don’t know why this passed me by. I only came across it by accident on YouTube.
In case you also missed out on all the excitement surrounding this international multimedia event on 10 May 2008, here is a quick summary from Wikipedia:
Pangea Day was a worldwide event that linked several cities around the world – London, Los Angeles, Cairo in Egypt, Kigali in Rwanda, Mumbai in India and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, in a 4-hour program of films, music and presentations. It was broadcast live from 18h00 to 22h00 UTC (i.e. GMT). The name ‘Pangea’ “refers to the supercontinent from which all current continents eventually separated. It serves as a reminder of the “connectedness” or unitary nature of all people on Planet Earth.”
The first 20 minutes of this broadcast can be watched here and many (if not all) of the films, musical performances and presentations can be watched via YouTube. If you don’t have a 3 Gig Cap like I do. 🙂
You can find out more on the official website.
Pretty awesome stuff out there!
