Welcome to my World!
This blog grew out of a desire to share with others my enthusiasm for getting to know my neighbourhood and my city - and hopefully more parts of South Africa and beyond!
The Cape Peninsula is an extraordinarily beautiful place: we have an iconic world-famous mountain right in the heart of Cape Town, wonderful and easily accessible hiking trails all over the mountain, and a fascinating history, culture and society just waiting to be explored.
Hover your mouse over each of the menus (Exploring the Cape, Getaways, Hikes and Rambles, Travel, Home and Garden, Entertainment and Defence Reserves) to access archived posts in those categories.
Happy Browsing!

Mountain streams, forest boardwalks and log steps: A Sunday hike from Newlands Forest to Kirstenbosch
Having walked from Constantia Nek to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens with our friends L and V, who was carrying little N in a soft carry-pouch (see route here), we were keen to try the approach from the opposite direction, Newlands Forest. … Continue reading
A short ramble around Newlands Forest
