Welcome to my World!
This blog grew out of a desire to share with others my enthusiasm for getting to know my neighbourhood and my city - and hopefully more parts of South Africa and beyond!
The Cape Peninsula is an extraordinarily beautiful place: we have an iconic world-famous mountain right in the heart of Cape Town, wonderful and easily accessible hiking trails all over the mountain, and a fascinating history, culture and society just waiting to be explored.
Hover your mouse over each of the menus (Exploring the Cape, Getaways, Hikes and Rambles, Travel, Home and Garden, Entertainment and Defence Reserves) to access archived posts in those categories.
Happy Browsing!

Wiggle Waggle Walkathon 2010
On Sunday morning, hundreds (thousands?) of humans were taken ‘walkies’ by their four-legged best friends, who tugged excitedly at leashes, tails whipping side to side and noses straining to inhale all manner of strange and wonderful scents. The air was … Continue reading
Doing the 10km Big Walk from the Grand Parade to Mowbray

Walking in the Rain: A Very Wet Women’s Day Fun Walk
After participating in our very first Fun Walk around our own neighbourhood last weekend, it didn’t need much effort from Colette and her Mom to persuade us to join them for the Women’s Day 5km/10km Fun Run/Walk in Bellville, which … Continue reading
Our first fun walk around Pinelands
“Can you hear that sound outside?” Doef-doef-doef-doef-doef…. Trap-trap-trap-trap-trap…. Excited voices. Breathless voices. An occasional cheer – clap-clap-clappity-clap-clap. “Are those people running down our street? What is going on out there? It’s Sunday morning, and the sun isn’t even up yet!” … Continue reading
An exciting Woefie Wandel through the streets of De Tijger
