Welcome to my World!
This blog grew out of a desire to share with others my enthusiasm for getting to know my neighbourhood and my city - and hopefully more parts of South Africa and beyond!
The Cape Peninsula is an extraordinarily beautiful place: we have an iconic world-famous mountain right in the heart of Cape Town, wonderful and easily accessible hiking trails all over the mountain, and a fascinating history, culture and society just waiting to be explored.
Hover your mouse over each of the menus (Exploring the Cape, Getaways, Hikes and Rambles, Travel, Home and Garden, Entertainment and Defence Reserves) to access archived posts in those categories.
Happy Browsing!

In adoration of Tuffy
Ever since engaging in some intensive decluttering and autumn-cleaning of our cupboards and shelves (as I wrote about here), I’ve been inundated with work. It’s really quite strange. Perhaps there is really some truth behind the theory that, if you … Continue reading

Autumn sky
I was hanging up the washing this morning, and struggling with the heavy water-logged towels, when I happened to look up. That’s when I noticed the sky. A brilliant . deep . breathtaking . blue. Look: These awe-inspiring, gasp-inducing autumn … Continue reading
Frisky foals at Oude Molen
These two youngsters were clearly feeling a bit frisky today, because they suddenly started to have a little play fight. It looked like little brother was giving big brother a hard time, nipping at him, and even landing a kick … Continue reading

As I explained in a recent post, as part of the process of de-cluttering and autumn-cleaning our house, I am looking for new homes for MANY (close to 200) of my books. Well, my assistants and I have been hard … Continue reading
